I just love Autumn, and what better place to experience the beauty but in the Adelaide Hills. Just sensational. The trees and vines magnificent in gold and red hues, with the green backdrop of the open fields. Stunning.
After leaving our accommodation at The Manor Basket Range (see previous blog post – Autumn in the Adelaide Hills (Part One)), we headed back to Uraidla for coffee at the Uraidla Republic Café. Another eclectic little spot well worth visiting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stop here and the coffee was excellent.
From here we headed to the new location of Udder Delights. Now a modern venue in Verdun – just off the freeway at the entrance to Hahndorf. This venue is home to Udder Delights Cheese, Grunthal Brewery (which includes an amazing selection of beers and gin) and Hesketh Wines. There is absolutely something for everyone at this venue including pizzas and cheesy delights. With the open fire burning its a wonderful spot to spend a cold afternoon. (Check out the article “Opening of the new Udder Delights Venue” for more info)
Next stop was the Stanley Bridge Tavern, Verdun – just around the corner. This is a beautiful little spot to stop for lunch or a drink while exploring the region. The wood fire was burning and the food was delicious. A lovely, cosy little place.
Our final stop for the day was Nepenthe Wines. Despite the wintery weather the views from Nepenthe wines are beautiful. No doubt they are amazing whatever the season. We tried some lovely wines and a couple of them came home with us to enjoy later 🙂
There is so much to do in the Adelaide Hills and so many amazing places to explore. Don’t let the the cold weather put you off. The venues are warm and the hospitality even more so. We look forward to discovering more places next time we head up there. I doubt it will be too far in the future.
