This time of year, it’s easy to curl up on the couch at home and wait for the weather to warm up again, yet there is so much to explore! Autumn in the Adelaide hills is an absolutely beautiful time of year. The trees and vineyards turn to sensational autumn golds and reds, whilst the fields are turning green. The great thing about exploring the Adelaide Hills in autumn is that the venues are so good at warming you up. The fires are burning and the heaters are on so get out there! You’ll be glad you did.
Our adventures commenced at the Meadows Bakery, enroute to our accommodation because no great adventure is complete without coffee! This is a fabulous little venue with all the charm of a small town bakery plus delicious coffee!
From Meadows we headed to The Manor – Basket Range where we were spending the night. A beautiful venue, popular for weddings and other special occasions that also offers numerous accommodation options. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was provided.
Once settled into our room we drove the short distance into Uraidla and had dinner at the Uraidla Hotel. Touted as being the “best hotel in Uraidla”, one side of the building also declares that it is the “worst hotel in Uraidla”. Either way, its a fantastically eclectic place to eat, drink and explore. They even make their own range of beers.
We started our night with a tour of “The Tank”. A large water tank that was recently converted into a 3000 bottle underground cellar. Incredible! Dinner was absolutely amazing. An entrée of deep fried haloumi followed by substantial mains had us rolling back to the bar where we imbibed a delicious glass of hot gin punch. YUM!!
After dinner we headed back to our room at The Manor and settled in for the night to plan our adventures for tomorrow! See link below 🙂
